Nice New Shiny Buses

16 August 2013 10:29240828I went to Thanet on Monday and marvelled at the nice new buses on the Thanet Loop. I pondered to myself what might have happened to the buses that they replaced, most of them having 06 number plates. Why couldn't they be cascaded to Dover I wondered.
Then, lo and behold, what did I see on the 15B service, an equally new shiny bus followed a few minutes later by another one as 15A. One big advantage is the fact that the offside emergency door is half way down the bus, not like the others that are at the back partly obscured by the seats.

- 16 August 2013 12:10240838They've been coming through Eythorne and Elvington from Dover to Sandwich, Ramsgate and Canterbury for a while now. We all lined The Street (well the bit closest to the bar at The Crown) when they first appeared of course.

17 August 2013 09:06240948When I was a lad (just after the war before the world went mad) school trips were made in one of Dave Renolds (Reynolds?) modest fleet, of possibly two Bedford OB coaches. They were always memorable for being, how can I put it, ah yes, filthy.
Can anyone else recall them?

17 August 2013 15:50241002Yet more new, well to me anyway, buses. I went to Ashford to have the car serviced and got the E-Line into town.
It was an Optare Versa,

a bigger version of the Solo's that are on the "Heart" routes. As you can see, the seats are a sort of plastic "leather", very comfortable but you could slip off of sharp bends! The front left hand bulkhead has a large cctv monitor which displays pictures from the on board cameras.
Like our 593 (Eastonways) and 68 (Regent) routes the E-line is subsidised by KCC, not quite sure why as it seems very busy.
Ah, the joys of a bus pass.

23 September 2013 14:20245724New term at UKC and Stagecoach have some new shiny buses here as well. It's the latest version of the Enviro 400, as used on the 101/102 routes. Not only do they use "green" fuel they feature WiFi.
