East Kent Railway is a big part of our Mining Heritage and we are working on a project to restore our very own Snowdown Colliery Steam Engine called the St Dunstan.
We are also looking at re-connecting many old colliery lines and Linking our communities again in the future.
Don't let your kids miss out on this great Xmas Special "Santa by Train" at East Kent Railway, Shepherdswell. Not only will you and the kids have a wonderfull trip, you will be helping to keep our heritage alive.
See you there, have fun. :-)

Thanks for flaging this up Gary I understand it does a roaring trade, the train runs along the bottom of my sisters garden, so all our youngsters in the family get to go on it.

Good luck with the various restorations Gary; hope Santa's day generates a lot of interest (and perhaps volunteers and funds) in what you and East Kent Railway are working on.

Gary this is the former National Coal Board locomotive 'Antwerp' we (the Kent coast Locomotive Group) are restoring at Sellindge. She belongs to the National Coal Mining Museum at Overton near Wakefield and we have her on long term loan. 'Antwerp' is very much a kit of parts at the moment so the photo shows her intact but a little tired looking at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. We hope to operate her locally when restored and perhaps we could make an arrangement nearer the time.
Never give up...

I took my gang to see Santa at EKR, on Saturday and we all had a really great time, even the sun came out for us, prompting us to think about a snow machine, for better effects next year, lol.
Bearing in mind that we already know, that money needs to be spent on the site.
Any feedback, both good and bad, from those that have taken their kids along to see Santa would be appreciated?
Any others that have not gone along should do so before they miss out.
The word is getting round and tickets are going fast.

Record breaking ticket sales and visitors this year, almost double the takings from last year. I'd just like to thank everyone who supported us, we really appreciate it. Next on the cards are building a new toilet block to cope with larger visitor numbers, and the wider promotion of the railway.
Thank you all and Merry Christmas!
