Winners and losers....

8 October 2013

...in the re-shuffles....

In Labour the lurch to the left signaled by Milliminor in his conference speech was re-enforced by his sacking and demotions of Blairites.  The loonatics have truly taken firm control of the Labour asylum.  They will pay for that at the ballot box.

In the Conservative Party the big winners are northerners and women not unexpectedly.   It is good to see Cameron promoting and bringing into to government some of the highly talented 2010 intake.  I was particularly pleased to see Esther McVey made no2 to Iain Duncan Smith.  I met Esther at the 2005 Party Conference and was impressed by more than just by her looks.   TV political programmes will certainly be more interesting when she appears.   I also applaud the appointment of Anna Soubry to Defence, she is another very clever 'cookie' though more of a Cameroon than I would prefer.

Glamour in the Dept of Work and Pensions......Esther McVey

I have a feeling that another reshuffle will be needed before the election despite Cameron not liking to do them.

That brings me to another subject...   What is Adam Afriyie up to?   He is a clever man who will not have done his Ministerial ambitions any good at all with his motion to bring forward a vote on the EU.   Can he be that rare thing, a man of principal, a MP doing what he thinks is right placing that before personal ambition?  I wonder, yes much of the Conservative grass roots will applaud him but they do not usually reward rebels with leadership.  Watch this space.
