I really do believe that Cable is out to destroy any chance of economic growth. Is he a Labour infiltrator I wonder....
He has said that taxes should rise to prevent welfare cuts......
No - if we are to have any chance of economic growth and to have an economy that can sustain welfare payments then we need tax cuts, not rises. Piling onto the backs of wage earners and the private sector an ever greater burden of public spending is no way to get economic growth. That burden needs to be made lighter, lower taxes, supply-side reforms and, yes - there must be cuts to the bloated welfare budget by freezing it for 5 years.
Mind you - if he agreed to some tax cuts, like cutting the highest rate of income tax back to 37p (including 2p NI) then more revenue would actually be raised by HMRC. But his narrow minded, blind left wing bigotry prevents him from seeing the truth of that.

- I was a little astonished at the wording used in a video Howard put on the Forum yesterday as it said, in plain English, that the BoE had bought up Private Sector Debt through QE. To the tune of 29% of the overall National Debt.
It may be that the money does not appear to be there in order to pay us all back, but what is it that makes us certain that where we know there is no money is the best place to look to exact funds?
Perhaps now is the time to give Greg Philo* another mention.

- i must concur with you on that brian, i remember cable calling for uncontrolled immigration to supply cheap labour to big business.

- The problem is that the Conservative are not good enough for big business and certainly not good enough for small businesses.
Labour are appallingly bad for big business and far worse for small business. High tax, high spend, lots of interference and red tape - that is all bad for business full stop.
If these parties were good for business, big and small, then we would not be stuffed up in this economic crisis.
The LDs are just useless, closer to Labour than the Conservatives - a 'road block' in the coalition to creating a climate good for business and growth - something every man woman and child in this country needs.

- Howard- it matters not that the LDs are outnumbered 5:1 - what matters is that their small number determine what legislation can pass through parliament. They have power disproportionate to their numbers.
It is no excuse but a statement of fact.
Coalition just gives excessive power to minorities and we have seen how the LDs cannot be trusted to stick to their word with the way they reneged over the deal on equalisation of constituencies. - thats coming from a tory,how many items has the conservatives have reneged on in the last 3 yearts.personly i've lost count.
- Brian - there are differences between the policies in the coalition agreement and the manifestos, as soon as coalition talks start manifestos go out of the window. That is part and parcel of coalitions. Likewise when it comes to u-turns, these are inevitable when a coalition is involved, the more so given the huge disparity between the two members.
Reneging on coalition agreement is a separate matter again. That is exactly what the LDs did and at no time have the Conservatives done so. Perhaps they should have. - barry,if i rember rightly dave cameron anounsed that the nhs was safe in tory hands,balls they are now ripping it apart.wellfare the same story.i would like to know so would a few others how can a paraplegic be fit for work.

Far better to get rid of the second rate NHS all together and to bring in a system based on the insurance funded health systems on the continent. As a big fan off all things EU I would have thought you would agree with that Brian. - barry,evan though the eu system is better,all so cheaper.i can not see it being implicated here,to many eurosceptic meddlers would blow it out of proportion.as they say if it aint broke dont fix it.just to add food for thought,these trusy persons need the chop and replaced by someone who knows what they are doing.
- Brian - I speak as someone who hates the EU with a passion.
The EU does not have a health system as such but many EU member countries have far superior systems than our inefficient and second rate NHS. The point is the NHS is broke and is well past fixing because the problems are systematic. It needs dumping and replacing..
You will find that many Eurosceptics will actually agree with this but the politicians among them will be afraid to speak out against the great god, the holy of holies, the untouchable NHS. It is this absurd status that many people regard it that is condemning them to poor health services. - sorry baz totaly disagree.but if theres to be a change let it get like the broad spectrom of europe and the way of privatization as you would like to see.
