This picture shows the effervescent
Dover Youth Theatre who are currently doing Geoffrey Chaucer's comic medieval masterpiece..The Canterbury Tales at the Dover Grammar School for boys. Last show in Dover is
tonight Thursday July 19th commencing 7.30pm with prices at a very low £4, with concessions at just £2. Pop along and give the youthful and energetic players your full support. The show is sidesplittingly funny.. I have this on sound authority from none other than Lady Guinevere's mother! Saskia Wadsworth-Smith is playing the Lady in question. A great theatrical experience, directed by Tamzin Dunstone and Marie Kelly-Thomas, well done all. More info and detail on Forum.

Well there were marching bands and beauty queens and colourful floats aplenty in the latest Dover Carnival which swept through the town on saturday. Basking in blistering weather, which made for a pleasant recent change, the whole event was a real summer festival for the thousands of onlookers. The Carnival stretched over a longer route this year, starting in River, yet by the time the parade reached Castle St all participants were still fresh, enthusiastic, and full of fun. The pictures above are of one of the marching bands and a very effective and fantastic outfit they are too. Unfortunately I dont have the name of the band at my fingertips but perhaps one of the DCAL teamsters can let me know... ah, I believe them to be the Millenium Allstars.
This strapping sailor lad is none other than the legendary Popeye himself. It was really great that Popeye was able to make it here to Dover, as he must be in such heavy demand worldwide. But he really played his part very well indeed and delighted all the kids of all ages. Brilliant! Anyone for spinach?
Below you can see the hugely colourful fab girls of Age Concern. Every year they look fantastic and always have superfantabadozy outfits, as they did again this year, with the wildly exciting colour red running strongly through all the designs...yes they truly were the Ladies in Red. Nice shot here taken in Castle St with Dover Castle looming large in the background. Well done girls as ever..all looking good! There were many floats and many other entrants and of course we cant have pictures of all, but all did their bit excellently with loads of collection buckets in operation for various charities. A great thumbsup to DCAL for bringing us another fine Carnival.
More on the Fab Forumite gathering in Castle St to follow in due course. So standby for that.
