Yes it is a new year. Jan Tranter's year as Mayor flew by so fast, and now we have genial Bob Markham stepping into the role. Bob was Mayor before in 2004/5 so he knows the ropes well, and is sure to be excellent in the flagship position. He was proposed at the Mayor-Making Ceremony last night, this time held in the hallowed halls of Dover College, by Gordon Cowan and seconded by Fab Forumite David Hannent who said " He will unite the council". Gordon Cowan spoke of Bob's "knowledge, enthusiasm and committment" . Bob was unopposed and is clearly a popular choice.Doverforum wishes him good luck for a successful year.
For the second year running the Deputy Mayor's position went to the lovely Diane Smallwood. She was challenged for the position by Cllr Lloyd but won through comfortably. The picture above shows both Mayor and Deputy Mayor in good form and enjoying the occasion amongst the effervescent floribunda.
Romance is alive and kicking amongst the ermin!! Bob announced that Cllr Lyn Young would be his Mayoress...aaah fantastic... lovely picture above there of the two of them holding hands. They will be well received throughout the area and will surely be a great success story by year's end.
The pictures above were taken just after the well attended reception where wine and nibbles rounded off the evening. More on the Forum.
