Sue turns a mean Sod!
Chairman of Dover District Council Cllr Sue Nicholas visited Goodnestone last week to turn the first sod on an exciting new 'affordable housing' development.
"There will be six houses to rent and two for shared ownership...They should look very nice when completed." Said Sue. It is always good to see affordable housing being built in these times of sky high house prices that almost always exclude youngsters from the housing market. This development will be popular with all. Sue looks very fetching wielding her shovel above there.

Ladies Fly the Flag for the Armed Forces!
* * *
It was the turn of Deal to fly the Flag for the Armed Forces last monday. On a cool day, cool enough for june, a gathering at the entrance to Deal Pier did the honours. There were speeches from the Chairman of Dover District Council Cllr Sue Nicholas and the Deputy Town Mayor of Deal Cllr Eileen Rowbotham.
Also in attendance were several DDC councillors, and town councillors from both Dover and Deal including our own Mayor of Dover Cllr Ronnie Philpott, and some veterans displaying proudly the medals pinned to their chests. Attendance was low but whether the general public knew it was taking place is hard to tell.This is one of many events being held across the country to mark the lead up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25 June. The day is an annual opportunity for the nation to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.
