Nejib was awarded the Montserrat Treserrias Trophy for becoming the first Tunisian and first North African to swim the Channel. He was also received in Carthage Castle by His Excellency Mr Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, the President of the Tunisian Republic.
At the time of the swim, Nejib was a Major in the Tunisian Air Force.
