    Hello Victor. Is that correct that you are about to move to Scotland? Meeting up may be difficult as I am now living in Derby.

    After leaving Astor Avenue I took up an apprenticeship at Ashford Railway Works (no longer there). I subsequently became an estimator (construction of railway vehicles and general engineering) later moving to Derby as a Sales & Contracts Engineer for Railway wagons & coaches when the old Ashford works closed down. I finished up as a Commercial Manager for railway coaches when British Rail Engineering Ltd was taken over by ASEA Brown Boveri and took early retirement when redundancy loomed and our "British Railways" was broken up into franchises. The company lives on as Bombardier, however, as the only Railway rollingstock manufacturer in the UK.
