    Chris, I was also at the Ashford railway works from 1972 till it closed it 1981 I was a welder in the long shop I am now 73 after the railway works closed I went on to work in Germany..Both my wife and myself spend some time in the highlands each year and are off again soon.Thats all I can say about that at this time apart from we love it up there. We also spend time in Stoke city which is not that far from you so just maybe we will meet up again.At Ashford Mr REG/Davis who only had one eye was our boss .I also worked in the docks in Wales on rolling stock which we made for overseas in the workshop then taken by rail down to Wales where we had to get them ready for shipping them out.
