Spotted a reference to this in an advert, not heard of it before. It's worth a look.

I may be being cynical but they seem to be marketing their smartwater product. I am not sure what they will achieve that the UK National Inventory of War Memorials hasn't. There is no link from the UKNIWM website either so I wonder if this is authorised.
A timely reminder, however, to plan for the anniversary and mark it appropriately.

The National War Memorial Project (not theDover War Memorial Project), initiated by John Pegg, was hoped to have been given the go ahead by now so it could have been opened by the 100 Anniversary of the start of the First World War.
It's progress has been halted so I understand, by English Heritage because they don't feel that the location - on the Western Heights, is appropriate.
Done with respect for the surroundings, bearing in mind the area is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (I'm sure Scotchie will put me right if I have described it wrongly), to me, it must be the most appropriate location there can be.
If it were to come to fruition, it would be an enormous boost to Dover and would transform the Town.

it will allso mean that the western hieghts would be opened up in contrast to the eastern hieghts [dover castle],the only reason i can see is that english heritage fear that such a project would detract people from the castle [paying custermers] to a free site.
