Around 1.30pm today I was crossing the road at Maison Dieu/Castle Street crossroads and just started to walk down Castle Street towards Market Square, when as if out of nowhere a Polish-registered LH drive car careered out of control down Castle Hill, smashing through the cast iron bollards missing me by a whisker. The car was a total write off, when we got to the driver the inside of the car full of smoke from the airbags, he was okay but obviously the worse for wear, as he was plastered.
Phew! Somebody up there was looking out for me.
