09:3629537Marek will like this one, yesterday at about 4pm I had a couple and a child come up to me at the Station and ask'What time is the bus to the Docks' so I told them my ell rehearsed speech on your left hand side every 20mins and it cost £2 each. The man said had I any idea what time the boat to JERSEY was.!!!!!!
I explained that he was a little off course and having a explained by showing him a map where he should have been,he obviously didn't believe a word I was saying and caught a Taxi to the docks.
Thirty mins later he returned and said I was right and at the Docks they told him that he needed to go to Plymouth(wrong).
He had flown from Portugal to Stansted and was told he needed Dover for the Ferries,so I checked the times of the connections and sent him off to Weymouth (right) for the next connection which was at 8am this morning.
Later on a man came to the window and said single to Sittingbourne and put down a £20 note and 60p of copper for a £10.60 fare,i pointed out to him the maximum copper I should take was 20p in one transaction,he laughed and said you will take it,god I was tempted to give him his £10 change in 5p's.Later I will tell you of some more mistaken places I have come across.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Love it. I wish there were ferries from Dover to Jersey it would make my life easier.
There are stills lots of Portuguese living and working on the island mainly from Maderia and at this time of year they run direct flights to Maderia taking home the seasonal workers or relatives coming over for a visit. However the Maderian dialect is totally unrecognisable from the Portuguese language.I have expect them to break out in 'whistle' calls to each other as a means of communication.
John was able to spend your Guersney pound note over here but at £3 a pint it didn't get me very far.

11:5629553A few years ago when the travel centre was open a man walked by the window then back again, then back again finally he plucked up courage to come in and said" Is Dovercourt anywhere near Dover" so I said no and showed him a map pointing towards Harwich,oh he said. Have you got a Pontins Holiday camp in Dover?
Then one day this couple came rushing in quick how do we get to the cruise terminal as our cruiser goes in an hour, knowing there were no cruisers in I said what cruiser are you traverling on and they gave a name, and it was not one that comes to Dover,so I asked for thier papers and the Ship went from Harwich. Can we get to Harwich in an hour they said......No

Dear PaulB
I wish to complain in the strongest possible terms about Mr Goodwinsands light railway comments made above. I think it is totally unacceptable that when we send a man to the moon we can not get from Dover to Harwich in an hour. Typical just bloody typical of BR today.Bring back steam and ask Victor Meldrew Limelight Scratchem to reopen Snowdonia coal pit to provide the fuel.
Where I live we have no railway thanks to the Germans..don't mention the war.. and therefore you lot should be grateful for your HS link ..calling at Shepherdswell Deal Ramsgate Margate Flk Central Flk West Sandling and the Owners Enclosure of Folkestone race course therefore taking 8 minutes off the time of the trip to London.
Some people are just never satisfied!

Was the commuters who overslept after a heavy night on the beer and missed there stop at sevenoaks or orpington and there were no further trains sas it was 1am!!!!
They would blame me because they couldnt handle all the beer they had, had.
and couldnt get home!!!
Aint people a funny lot !!
