at ALDI. It's a 2011 Macon-Villages AC Chardonnay from Henri de Lorgere. Brilliant value at £4.99.
Get round there and fill your boots!

I buy the Baron St Jean at £2.99 and/or 10 french beers for £3.04.
£4.99 is a bridge too far

We're all snobs in our own way Peter, I just wouldn't know a decent wine from Aldi's stuff, in fact I believe that applies to 99% of wine drinkers.
I prefer quantity to quality, as an impoverished small business owner its gratifying to know I can still get plastered for a fiver.

are you buying your falling down juice from the same place as those chaps in market square?

As I commented to Peter a few weeks ago I spotted the proprietor of a High Street restaurant will a trolley full of the 2.99 stuff!
Personally I prefer the boxed Shiraz.

The Montepulciano d'abbruzzo at £3.49 is surprisingly good.
Wouldn't expect to get a drinkable wine at this price normally but it was recommended by the Telegraph wine expert so we gave it a try...
Peter are you still at Blakes?

Yes, for now. Should exchange contracts any day now.

Good value Peter.
Tesco also do an own brand at under £5.
Yours maybe better offer for character.

Thanks for the heads up. Nice and chilled for the Summer, should do nicely.

slightly off tangent but re: post 4 from david.
many years ago on london weekend television they tested out scotch whiskies(malt and blended) on experts who said they would be able to identify all of them.
most did on the first pub measure after that it was a free for all with some saying that a cheap blend was a single malt and the other way around.
