Sue of course you are right,we would like to see better facilities for young people, but that is not what is on offer,we are being offered a big TV screen. We were offered the chance to have free swimming for the over 60's and young people. The Council has decided to go down the road of free swimming for the over 60's and perhaps the odd day or two for the under 16's.The reason was it would cost too much money.
The Goverment was offering money for both programmes and the arguement was they were not offering enough.Fair comment but in these times of sporting greatness and obeseity what a good idea.
We also have facilities ie football pitches that are being called off on Friday when it is raining because the Contractor doesn't want to go out in the rain, yet on Sunday pitches are bone dry.We have Cricket pitches that are too dangerous to play cricket on.We have teams turning up to play football and there are no showers or running water,or the Changing rooms are locked meaning people have to get changed outside and then go to work without a shower.
Yes we need facilities......but that is not on offer....
