  The guy who was one of the main waiters at Marine Court left and has ened up in the Mayfly at Hawkinge. Needless to say the service there is very good, and the food, much more often than not, is excellent value.
  
  I stopped using Marine Court when he left as it went rapidly downhill, the DOY's is just a disgrace and I suspect, the Kittiwake won't be long in droppping its standards too. That type of eatery has high staff turnover and eventually the local manager just gives up in a constant stream of recruiitment interviews.
  
  I am bound to confess, the French do this type of eatery so much better than us. They are hopeless when it comes to war, but can teach us a thing or two about mass catering.
