Yes, Bracing indeed, but the lovely sunshine took the edge off things and it was a very pleasant surprise to find the cafe open. There were quite a lot of people in there tucking into everything from Ham, Egg and Chips to Afternoon Scone Teas. The clientele were families with young children and older couples, plus outside at the picinic tables with the sun shining down on us I might add, were families with their dogs and all having a snack as we were. The picinic area is sheltered from the wind so it was really nice.
On the way back we saw a little boy fishing with his dad and lo and behold as we were passing the young lad caught what looked like a Dover sole but on reflection it might have been a plaice.
I notice that the Deal Pier gets a lot publicity and I guess especially now with the new refurbishment and its New Cafe, but its a shame that the Dover Pier seems to get forgotten about as it truly is a great asset for Dover.
