This morning an accident between two vehicles between Limekiln roundabout and the Courtwood interchange closed that section of the road due to spillage. A police car with flashing lights was across the road with cones and a road closed sign.
On my school bus we go up to St Davids Avenue at Aycliffe so we went past the closed signs. As you know, Aycliffe has only one road in and out so if that road becomes blocked you're stuck.
Well that happened this morning, and it has happened before. Lorries being turned away from the A20 and seeing the Old Folkestone road signs obviously thought they could go through the estate and out the other end to Folkestone. When they realised this wasn't so they had to turn round, blocking the road. Chaos was the outcome and we were held up for a while. Luckily Chris Precious was on hand and directed the traffic to go back as his road is a cul de sac.
Couldn't there be some sort of signage on the roundabout to tell motorists that there is no access to the M20/A20 through Aycliffe? I felt sorry for the people stuck in the jam who needed to get home/get to work this morning.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
jacqui, tell me about it,i live near the roundabout end of aycliffe.when this happens choas rains, polise dont give two hoots,as for signage we have two hopes and one of them is dead.the two highways people are arguing over who is going to put the signage in and who will maintain them.we have been trying for years to get some signage in.
A pain in the a*** indeed - more so for you folk living there, but infuriating for me this morning when it took me half an hour just to leave sodding Dover! You have my sympathies.
