19:3713648Continual efforts to address the regular queuing of trucks along the A20 through Dover, particularly along Townwall Street & Snargate Street, waiting to enter the Eastern Docks have led to a recent series of meetings with all relevant partners.
Following these latest meetings, I have been advised by the Highways Agency that they are designing an up to £2.5millions scheme that will improve the lining and signing between the Western Heights roundabout and the Eastern Docks roundabout plus two signs on the A2 Jubilee Way.
The plans suggest changeable lane separation signs with some over the carriageway by either using cantilever legs or, in a number of places, gantry supports. I have seen the provisional plans but they are now working on the details and seeking information as to whether Planning Permission will be needed due to the Conservation Areas and the visible impact as but two possible issues that may need to be addressed.
All being well, the work is being planned for the coming financial year.
Every little helps - as they say - efforts will continue
