Consider me firmly off said back!! My view on abortion isn't rooted in religion, though, to be honest. I have defied the Pope on too many issues to roll over meekly! It stems from an understanding of where human life starts.............I have known each time when I was pregnant, almost from the beginning. My body told me, my baby told me, and that has to be significant. And I also hold dear the idea of consequences: our actions have consequences and we need to know that. An abortion is, for me, killing. It is more than that though - it is the abrupt end of an opportunity for a grandmother to hold her grandchild, an aunt to be an aunt, a child to feel the sun on his or her face and be cuddled and nurtured by his or her Mother and Father. Yes, Fathers matter too. We lost afew babies before we had our family, and the effect on their Dad was as profound as the effect on me.
