Advice for HIM. I live by and swear by this and it never lets me down. It's a little rule I call the "Red Dress Blue Dress" rule. When married, the bloke must NEVER allow himself to be lured into any questions from the lady that relate to her fishing for compliments. For example, she might ask:

"Does my bum look big in this?"
"Do you think these earrings go with this hairdo?"
    "Does this belt suit me?"
    and the ultimate one...
"What do you like best? The red dress or the blue dress?"

Men... this is a TRAP! You can NEVER win. No matter what answer you give, it won't be right. If you say that you like the red dress better, the response will likely be "What? Are you saying the blue dress makes me look ugly?"

These days, if asked by my lovely wife if her shoes look nice, or this makeup works, or the hair is good, or the blouse matches the skirt, I simply say "Red Dress Blue Dress Violation! I don't have to answer!"

    Self preservation!
