It seems to me that many of the posts on the this thread are symptomatic of one of Dover's biggest travails; namely no-one is prepared to take responsibility but is more than happy to apportion blame.

Surely our local authority has an emergency committee and some form of procedure for convening it when emergencies or unusual situations hit the town; presumably there is also a protocol for engaging the Harbour Board, SouthEastern Trains, the emergency services etc. So why has nothing been done to help direct these folks trying to get to or from the docks - frankly there are a number of very reasonably priced sign makers in the town, who for a very small outlay could have produced directional signs. We could have directed the travellers via the town centre to the docks, or laid on more buses or even mobilised council workers to guide people.

But no it is much easier to blame everyone else.

No bloody wonder nothing ever seems to get done in this town.
