Clarification on this from DC.
He is not going to have a policy of imposing all women shortlists.
What the situation actually is, under by-election rules, a shortlist of only 3 candidates is provided to for the local associations from the 'highest quality' candidates available. (Bear in mind we will by then only be talking about a mere handful of seats)
On the candidates list there are some superb high quality women with over 30% of the total being women. It is inevitable that when lists are provided to the associations some will be all men, some will end up all women and others mixed. There will note be a deliberate policy of imposing all women shortlists any more than all men shortlists or mixed...
There you have it. I think this is a bit of a backtrack from a clumsily answered question that has been taken out of context. I certainly cant see any objection to this.
