Over the past months I have noticed that although ambulances have sirens going, blue lights flashing, some cars still carry on regardless.
I hope those who fail to let them through never have cause to call them, and they get stuck in traffic by another mindless idiot.
Sorry, but I do feel strongly on this, any posters coments?

Three times now I've been in a situation (twice at Tower Hamlets trafffic lights) whereby I have stepped out into road to control traffic. On the last occasion a fire engine was stuck behind a car going towards London Road.
The lights were green for traffic crossing the main road. The motorists going up to and coming from the Hamlets clearly understood the situation and stopped.
I then beckoned for the cars to come out from the High Street. The man in the car right in front of the fire engine (which was continously using his two tones) merely looked at me blankly and then pointed to the red light! He refused to move until the lights changed.
And what about the lunatic motorists who don't expect buses to stop at bus stops?
They then veer suddenly into the other lane without indicating.
I don't believe it!

Oh, and before anyone makes a comment, I always did it safely and made my intentions clear before stepping out. I made a signal to the first motorist that made eye contact with me.

Ah well. I was being driven by a daughter not so long ago, and a fire engine came belting up behind. She pulled over.
The car behind overtook her and carried on up the road ....

Most frustrating, but on a lighter note....pulled over the other day having heard sirens only to let a Tesco's delivery van sail by!
The real deal arrived a few moments later, now my kids tease me constantly.

Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........

I was in a taxi a while back when a fire engine came up right behind, sirens blaring. The taxi driver just continued at a snails pace, I had to ask him to pull over.

He looked at me like I was mad. I was mad - at him. I said "How would you like it if it was your house that was on fire"! He went very quiet after that!

Couldn't agree more - what are people thinking...?

what baffles me is that should the driver be deaf the drivers mirror is ablaze with lights.
Its the driver that would get the £60 fine and 3 points on his licence for going through the red light though.
There was a case recently where a driver went though a red light to assist the ambulance behind. As he went through the red light the camera on top took a photo.
When he took this to court to challege it, he lost. He should have waited until the light went green.
You've got to be kidding!!!!
