A bit off topic but as strikes and picket lines have been mentioned here is a story that happened to me in the 1988 seamans strike. I was stood on the roundabout outside Eastern Docks on the picket line and a line of police were in front of us. I knew the policeman who happened to be in front of me as he lived opposite me. His words to me were "hello Alec, you are doing it all wrong mate, you should have a surge now and then" meaning, cause some aggravation so they could get their batons out. Talk about inciting violence. I didn't make this up, it is true.
