A few weeks ago, a few ants appeared out the conservatory, the first time for a few years, and now, as I write, there`s a couple crawling up the hallway wall. I was going to spray them, but as they`ve given me a topic, I shall spare their live`s.

Anybody else got any yet, or get them regular? And could it be a sign of a wet Summer to come?

Yes Colin we have them in the hall way in the green house inthe living room I try not to kill them but had to in the end put power down indoors and around the outside doors at this time it seems to be working.

Happy to squish ants, but I treat spiders with care as they are good for us humans, mainly.
Spiders Sid are horrid creepy little things always waiting to scare the pants off me, ants are ok as long as u dont sit on top of their nests! believe me not a nice feeling.

Last year I bought a couple of ant houses from B&Q. I put one in the kitchen and one in the garden - no more ants - brilliant.
Agree with Sid on spiders, they kill flies so I like them. If I get a huge one I put it in the garden, and many's the time I've been called by my daughter (next door) to remove one from her conservatory lol Poor kid's terrified of them!
Only thing I have a phobia about is snakes - yuk!!
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
Best not go into politics then Jacqui!

Sorry about the problem, Colin. I know you are ant-icipating several replies so here is one answer. Ants are repelled by several plants, including spearmint, peppermint and pennyroyal, or cucumber skins (the more bitter the better). When I lived at Hillside Rd right on the edge of the town we occasionally had this problem and I found that the natural approach (i.e. putting a sprig of the plant in the cupboard) worked as well as powder.

Good sense of humour, and many thanks for that Diana, I shall place some cucumber skins down and pour some John Smiths over them.
