12:0733534I just had a phone call on my home phone:
"Mr Williams"
answer -Yes-
"can you confirm if your Sky Box is working?"
answer -Not got a Sky Box-
They hung up....
I didnt stop to think and just quickly answered. So what was this all about. 1471 no good, no number.
Is it a scam?
If so what could they be up to?
Are they trying to find someone with a box, or without one?
Is there anything I should do?
Any ideas.... there are just so many scams around these days.

13:2933539it does sound like the old trick of burglars knocking on doors and asking for mr so and so, once the door is open.
keep knocking on doors until no-one answers, then attempt a break in.
usually worse from early to middle december when a lot of houses are full of presents for the winterval celebrations.

13:4933544I got a phonecall the other day to tell me my warranty had run out on my sky set, problem was it ran out years ago, because when we had problems they couldn't fix it,so we got a saterlite installer to come round no problems since.
I was cycling passed Howard Towers last night didn't knock the light was on.
People don't tend to hang around near our house owing to the German Shepperd next door on one side a cross breed border collie on the other and my 'killer 'Bishon in the middle, she makes a lot of noise for a lap dog, people knock the door hear the dog and get the other side of the gate. They look a bit silly when I open the door holding the dog.The secret is doesn't matter what sort of dog you have, but get one that barks LOUD.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

16:5433552Next time someone calls tell them your sky box isn't working (whether you have one or not) and see what happens next. Then let the rest of us know because I'm wracking my brains trying to think how this could be a scam.

17:3333556It does sound like that old trick Howard mentioned - call, if no-one is in, burgle, or perhaps call at different times to see who is around when. BarStewards.
