I know many of you have followed my interest in Arthur Beresford Pite (1861 - 1934.) Arthur was an architect who had links with Dover (his wife Mary was from the prominent Mowll family with Cinque of Port connections and they married in Whitfield.) I worked in a building designed by him in London for 26 years and carried out much research into his life and works. Since January I have been raising funds to have Arthur and Mary's graves restored, they are buried in West Norwood cemetery in South London. I am delighted to tell you that I have received a letter from the Heritage of London Trust stating they have agreed to offer a grant of £1000 towards the restoration of the graves.

On Wednesday I am going to the cemetery to visit Arthur and to take some more photos and notes for the monument restoration project. I also have some laminated signs listing who is buried where, when they died, plus a little about Arthur which I will affix to the two graves as a temporary measure until the work can begin

I am currently working on a new book about Arthur called 'Arthur has left the buildings'. If all goes to plan I will be approving the master copy within the next few weeks. It is the complete updated story and when you read all the astonishing coincidences together in one book you'll understand how amazing his story and my connection with him really is. It will be available from 2nd September, his birthday. I'll keep you posted nearer the time.
