Let's be realistic. There is no way that ASDA will have anything to do with the development of DTIZ.

There's not enough punters in Dover to buy even more 'stuff' and there is certainly not enough 'pull' in Dover to drag people like me to risk getting stuck in Operation Stack, when I can go to Westwood, or even ASDA at Ashford and have an excellent day out saving money at McArthur Glen (the latter of which, could of course have been based at Whitfield, if it wasn't for the idiots on our Council who turned down planning permission because it would affect the vibrant shopping centre that we know as Dover).

As for a new Leisure Centre, dream on........

In my three decades in Dover District I have never managed to get my head around how both the locals and their intellectually (though rarely politically) challenged representatives at Fort Whitfield manage to get it wrong on every single issue.

They either spend a fortune on consultants on stuff which will never get off the ground DTIZ/Betteshanger Business Park, or back lost causes e.g. keeping Miners in Kent/Marines in Deal and now opposing the inevitable privatization of the Port of Dover.
