18:1432658Good thing Howard getting the elderly computer literate. Many I know always like talking about the past, and with the internet, and of course youtube, they can get much more interesting information than television could ever do. I`m still finding things every week.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

18:4732659i think that they call it silver surfing colin, apparently that generation(70 and over) seem to pick it up very quickly.
probably because they have spent their working life adapting to incessant changes.
i think you are right there about the info(pics and articles) that the older people look for, just as an example, our own member paul aka scotchie has a website full of historical stuff on dover.

20:0232663i am certain that it is
www.doverpast.uk no doubt paul will be on later to give more accurate details.
on the subject of old photos, the clarendon and westbury community centre committee are thinking of going around the local streets and asking people for photos that they have for a display in the centre. there must be stacks sitting round in shoe boxes(photos nor people).
i seem to remember that you originate from that area.

20:1332665I was born up Westbury road, and I remember the pub always well patronised, and my sisters used to go with Valerie Sewell (hope I`ve spelt it right), the daughter of the owners. I know Belgrave road was a steep one for my mum and the pram! As I think Vic said, no buses up there then. Would be very interested to see some photo`s of the area if, hopefully, you manage to get hold of some. I have a couple of myself in the back garden in the snow, with the allotments behind. circa 1955

12:0732705Congratulations to Keith, he really is the most modest of men, didn't once mention it to anyone at Age Concern.
On the subject of silver surfing, just opened up my e-mails to find one from my mother(89 in January) asking if she can be my Skype buddy. Not only wasn't I aware she was on the internet but if I accept her request it means always having to keep my hair short, I always have to get it cut before visiting her in Birmingham.
