This forum is worse than CCTV sometimes. You can't go anywhere without being spotted and the whole of Dover being informed. Cheers.

Evening went very well. Shirley Thompson of Kent Bat Group gave an interesting lecture introducing bats to an audience of about thirty, about half of whom were young children. Shirley and Mel Wrigley of the WCCP then took us up the moats of the Drop Redoubt where we listened with Bat Detectors to the echo-locating calls of the resident '45' Pipistrelles. Shirley believes the Drop is one of the of the very best places in Kent to watch for bats that is away from water.

Following the evening a few of us went down to Russell Gardens and watched half a dozen or so Daubenton's bats skimming the surface of the lake.

So yes, a nice and successful evening. The WCCP are an excellent group of devoted people, we are very lucky that they put on events such as this for us to enjoy.
