7 November 2023 13:13383021Just had a phone call allegedly from a DC Jackson at Chelmsford police. Did I have a Thomas Nunn living at my address? He had been arrested for trying to use a cloned bank card in my name. He wanted to know how the person had got hold of my name and address. I said that's easy "T.Nunn at my address" is in the phone book.
He said that he wanted to interview me further regarding my card. He said he would clear down and that I should dial 999 and explain what had happened, Kent police would then contact Chelmsford to verify his credentials. He would then call again.
He seemed to clear down, so did I. When I picked up the line I heard a sort of dial tone. I ignored it. He then rang back. I told him that I hadn't done anything because the dial tone didn't sound right and didn't believe a word of what he said.
He went away.
So watch out they just want your card details.

I had a very convincing email the other day, supposedly a Morrisons voucher from Amazon that could have caught some out. I had a call from a family member asking me why I had called him today as my telephone number was on his missed calls list.
I had not called him so it looks like scammers, possibly marketeers, have spoofed my landline number to protect their ID or for some other devious reason.
(Perhaps your cat sitting on your buggy’s rear bumper has been obscuring your rear light Jan!).
