Just a little heads up to everyone to be extra vigilant online.
Because of the nature of my work, photographing and writing about cemeteries and the deceased, I'm used to the odd, (and they are actually very few and far between) nasty comment. I am always quick to point out that I behave respectfully in cemeteries, and am also involved with their restoration and preservation - which usually allays any fears. Anyway, earlier today I discovered I had an online stalker who started sending me creepy warnings via a blog site. Well luckily he picked the wrong person - I got his IP address, reported him and he has since been removed. I am always careful about what information I divulge online but it can be easy to sometimes relax and let your guard down. These warnings could have easily frightened someone, especially young people. I also detected a nasty virus which may or may not have been related (it happened around the same time.) Good thing I had updated my anti virus!
NB: This was not connected to Doverforum; I am just merely posting this so that people are aware.
Don`t know much about this sort of thing Jeane, but can`t a system be set up whereby, if the sender doesn`t leave an email address, the message can`t be sent? Like the ex-directory on the phone.
I'm sure there are sites which can and do that. This person used an e mail address when he joined. Going back through some of the past comments we found he had put a link to his site and then we discovered it was rather erm....dubious in content!
Thats a bit scary jeane we all think we are fairly safe but that is not always the case even with all these anti and security things in place, they seem to find a way always pays to be alert.
