  No this has nothing to do with the experiment at CERN in Geneva but all to do with the earth shattering bangs of earlier today. About mid day I jumped about eight foot in nervous disarray as there was a horrendous bang. I nearly dropped my Pot Noodle so I did! I was convinced it was a bomb..something to do I suspect with my Irish heritage. Then say maybe a half hour later there was another one.
  
  I traced down the culpritt..a large gun was firing not a few hundred yards from my rear view window from the castle heights. The bang was tremendous and horrendous and all without any kind of warning.
  
  Many an ould geezer will get a heart attack if they dont give us a bit of warning when next they are doing it.
  
  What it was for I dont know. Were they shelling the strikers in Calais? Gawd knows! But the source of the sound was a large gun peaking over one of the castle perimeter walls...and letting rip!
