Big Dover company goes bust today

  One of Dovers big companys has gone bust this week they were a 200year company and were very good,and it is a sad day to see them gone,lets hope even at this time they can be saved by someone.

  I am sorry to say it is Barwicks the builders, been around for over 200years,had working sites all over Kent,but are a Dover Company.

  That is sad, Vic. Bern, Marek, I would not take any satisfaction from MickeyD's going bust, do you really want another town centre shop empty and what about those who work there?

  Yes it is sad over alot of years I have been working off and on alot of their sites again all over Kent they had agood name in building.

  Barwicks the building company have All gone bust,If they still have a plant hire shop in Dover I do not know about them only the building company.

  Sad not only for the loss of a great name but also because the apprentice schemes having been scrapped Barwicks over many years have trained many quality craftsmen in this town. we are livig in a short term market and skills are not regarded as they should be.

  It was only two weeks ago I was working on one of their sites in Kent nothing was said then,it was a few days later on I found out,they were working on some good and big sites,the site I was on ,there was alot of money tied up in it.

  maybe in these cash strapped days that was the problem victor?
  
  builders have to pay up front for the labour to do a job, if the client has a credit agreement, then find that they cannot pay, the builder is in big trouble.
  
  this is all supposition, of course.
