Yes the Scouts are on the lookout for things to do this week.
I am reminded that back in the middle 50's four Scouts knocked on the door looking for something to earn a bob or two. Outside in the yard was a collection of wood. The lads were given a saw and asked to cut this up into fire sized pieces. As it was raining they were allowed to do this in a store room. In the store were six new bentwood chairs.
Need I say more!

The scouts didn't, by any chance, go on to turn their attentions to Local Politics and to matters 'fountain'?

Why was it that the Cubs, I never saw a Scout, were always so small and the only jobs I ever had needed a teenager to do them, my dog loved it as he always had an extra walk as that was all I could give those little boys.

This is the twenty-first century Howard. No actual work gets done.

Do all the cubs have to be accompanied by an adult when doing the Bob a Job?

Looks like organised events rather than knocking on doors.

You are correct Terry.
Bob a Job stopped quite a long time ago because of youngsters going out alone knocking on strangers doors. It was felt back then, that how can you teach children not to talk to strangers then ask them to go out and earn money from strangers. Most Scout Groups have done their own thing in raising money by doing jobs in the Community as a group, things like car cleaning or packing peoples shopping at the super markets.
Scouting has always liked to see the young people doing something to bring in the money rather than standing there shaking a tin can. Now they have come up with "Scout Community Week " which again looks for those in the Scout Movement doing jobs in the community as a Group to fund raise and by doing it as a National Week it promotes the Scout Movement as an organisation.
Great to see it and I fully support it.

The 'Scout Post' was one very good idea, that sadly has had it's day...
