    To Roger and Colin,

No, not Burtons or a charity shop, the gear came from the props department of the film company. I must have been the cheapest to fit out as I was a peasant but some of the gear was magnificent. It must have cost a fortune to kit out the soldiers alongside of me.

I must scan some more photos as they are quite interesting if you are a fan of the Castle, they really did make it look medieval with animals in the market place, goats, horses, chickens etc..

There were some quite big names in it although I doubt that it made a fortune.

Michael York, Oliver Reed, Gordon Jackson, Claire Bloom, Lysette Antony were some of the "stars" appearing.

I think that I ended up on the cutting room floor as I saw it a couple of times and never saw myself.

That was their loss, we got paid £25 per day and a lovely breakfast and lunch thrown in. I got three days work out of it which came in very handy as we were on strike at the time. It was a long day from 7 am until 6 pm and spent mostly hanging around until you were called for your little scene. It was very interesting to some one who didn't know what making a film was all about.

Watching the stuntmen throwing themselves off the battlements on to the horsemen down below was a sight to behold. They earned every penny of their wages because they were made to do it several times to get it right.
