I joined the Lord warden in 1964 as steward and my father was Tiger on it from about 1954 so would have known him. After that we both went over to the Shepperton ferry for the next 3 years. In retrospect it was an adventure with lots of stories and escapades as in those days there was lots of room for enterprise. I moved over to chief cook ( because I could write the menus!) but the Shep galley was a nightmare in the hot weather as we had no vent but a lantern light up between the funnels. Foggy days were terrible.
