  i remember reading that a bullet has been designed using resin, powder and red dye.
  
  the effect being that the bullet hits the target the red dye shows on the victim who is knocked down by the force of the bullet but otherwise unharmed, though very sore for a week or two.
  
  i think where it is used is when an agent is in situ with a terrorist or other enemy group. the agent then does not look like he is an infiltrator to his fake comrades.
