I suspect there might be one or two forum members who have the over 60 bus pass or are approaching the qualifying age
I've just submitted a renewal for mine that expires at the end of the month and found out the admin is being transferred to KCC from 1st April, but to enable the transfer the last day for DDC to accept applications is this coming Thursday 24th - get yours in quick if you need one soon - http://www.dover.gov.uk/benefits/concessionary_travel.aspx
thanks for info ray, always struck me as odd that district councils do the issuing whilst funding is from central government through to county or unitary level.
"Kent County Council will take over administration of the Concessionary Travel Scheme - which provides free local bus travel for elderly and disabled people - from Kent's district and borough councils on 1 April 2011.
Government funding for the scheme will be significantly reduced at the same time, meaning that we will receive less money to pay for the scheme than the districts have had in the past. As a result, Kent County Council will operate a national standard scheme.
This means passes will be accepted from 9.30am to 11pm Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and on bank holidays. For the past three years, Kent County Council provided additional funding to allow pass holders to travel from 9am on weekdays"
Yes it is one of the good things when you get old the bus pass, and it only cost,s £8 return to London, and in london you can go onto the bus with out anycost.
Putting the start time forward to 9.30 means some of our ladies will not be starting until about 10.00. I doubt if it will save much, if any money, people will start their journey 30 minutes later so just irritation to some.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
