    When I was a lad (honestly I was) in the late 40's and early 50's, I was surprised to discover that buses actually ran to a timetable. I thought that they just came along as and when. Seeing in Denis's newsagents in the High Street a timetable published by Headley's of Ashford I bought one with my pocket money.

    I compared the buses and the times. They were always late (or missing) then!
