    Am I the only one confused as to the position of UKIP on Europe now?

    Seriously though, we have to manage the entry of Turkey into the EU carefully; learning from the mistakes made when the last lot entered. But, from my point of view, Turkey is closer to European thinking than the likes of Rumania, Bulgaria etc. But, as has been said already, there are many issues to resolve first, Cyprus being just one. But, not talking about them won't get a resolution.

    The Obama influence is, as usual, vastly overstated. He recognises Turkey as a majorly strategic NATO partner and is keen that position isn't compromised by anti-Muslim, and pro-Greek thinking. I'd say that was eminently sensible for an American President.
