    I have tried playing with Windows Movie Maker (included with Vista and XP) but couldn't get on with it myself. As far as I know there is no other freebie software out there that's any good and the really good stuff costs a lot - £800+. That's alright if you intend producing semi-professional video and can actually make money from doing so but it's way out my price range.
