Hmmm.....I probably have slightly more male friends than female friends. A lot of it stems from the fact that I worked in a male dominated (I was the only female) government department for years. I've been told by females that I am not really a girly girl - I love my shoes, bags and perfume don't get me wrong, but I like gadgets, crumbling buildings and cemeteries which means I come into contact with/talk to more men about that sort of stuff. I do a lot of photography too which is another top heavy male industry. I'm used to it now but some days I long for a girly chat. By nature I'm not a jealous person. I know I don't have to worry about my husbands female friends, he's known them for years and now they're my friends too. Likewise he has become friends with a lot of guys I know. I have had a couple of incidents whereby some of my male friends partners (it only tends to be newer friends) have viewed me with slight suspicion, but they soon realise that I am not interested in their partners in that way. I am a naturally 'huggy' person too but I have learned to curb that because not everyone is and that can be taken out of context. So for me yes I believe men and women can just be friends.
