    Terry you are right they don't, however, enforcing a 20mph speed limit on all roads in town would go a long way to reducing that particular noise nuisance.

    Seriously, though why are such powerful car stereos on sale? couldn't they be restricted?

    It is the same with the stereo in your home, honestly who needs more than 25W RMS anyway in a flat or house?
