  What is the world coming to when you have a visitor comes into your house with two young children (of an age to know how to behave), and they systematically open all your cupboards and drawers to see what they can find ??   And father always strongly objected to children who made a lot of noise or fidgeted when sat having a meal at a table, or ran around the table !!
  Shows how badly disciplined and brought up they are. 'Take your elbows off the table', 'Sit up straight', he used to say, or 'Don't talk at mealtimes' or 'I'm listening to the news' (on TV), we had to be quiet. When HE was young whatever they left on their plates was served up to them at the next meal, no food was ever wasted.
