Apparently and in good old HIGNFY tradition, allegedly. Chris Huhne is driving straight towards controvesy. It is alleged that he managed to get a colleague to take a speedy rap for him. ''And what do raps make? Points'' good game good game.
The Mail on Sunday (spits in disgust) claim to have a tape recording of a conversation In the phone Mr Huhne warned the person who took the penalty points not to let 'the genie' out of the bottle by revealing what really happened. He says: 'There is no evidence for this story unless you give it some legs by saying something. 'The last thing you want is a half-baked story saying you've taken points for me.'
When he briefly comments: 'There's no question of it coming out, because it's simply not true, that's it,' the other person is believed to react with shock, saying: 'I'm sorry, what? Why are you suddenly saying that?'
His exwife from whom he separated after being caught with his trousers down doing a bit of the ''extra maritals '' backs up the papers claim and adds that he drives like a lunatic. Hell hath a fury like a woman scorned.
So multi millionaire ,7 house owning, Lib/Dem politician with hopes of replacing Clegg could well have just driven himself into a storm and cul de sac.
Lying to the police is a criminal offence that can lead to a jail sentence.

It's reported in todays Sunday papers that Chris Huhne will tell the police that he ''may have driven the car'' on the day of the offence .This version appears,if true, to differ from his previous statemnts.
I'm not sure whether his apparent change of heart is down to his exwife spilling the beans or the fact that at the time of the offence his wife was attending a function a couple of hundred miles away and he just happened to be in the area and using the same road as the one where the offence was committed.
It appears that he has taken on board ''the points'' raised by the police who are now clearly in the ''driving seat'' in terms of the investigation as it '' speeds'' to a conclusion.

I watched the HIGNFY last night and some of the comments and remarks were very funny - as you say Marek - "allegedly" indeed.

his biggest problem could be that on the day he claimed not to have been in essex, he arrived at stanstead airport with nigel farage as a fellow passenger.

Chris Huhne has luckily had a quiet time of it both from the sunday papers and the sunday TV programmes for the simple reason that all the media at the moment are obsessed by the Footballers super-injunction story. All other items have been pushed into the background. I know who the footballer is of course, as Im sure do many of you, but cant name him for fear of spending the rest of the season at her majesty's pleasure
Oddly enough though the guy in question.. if he had left the story alone it would have run its course by now and nobody would care. It would just be another football sleaze story. But now it has become the biggest story on the english speaking planet and no one will ever forget it as it will be quoted as a legal test case for time immemorial.
The guy in question never struck me as the sharpest knife in the box though...
If he is lying , why is it taking so long to find out the truth ?

To make sure he is prosecutd they have to have al the evidence, he has been denieing he was in the car till recently.

Hague has already started the process of distancing himself from 'hurrying' Huhne by stating that Huhne is an honourable man and he alone will decide whether to resign or not in light of the police proceedings.
Talk about leading a horse to water...

This obviously isn't going to go away and pressure
is mounting on Chris Huhne last night after police raided his ex-wife's home and seized his son's mobile phone.
Mr Huhne denies persuading his exwife to take three points for him but a photograph of her licence shows an endorsement for speeding on March 12, 2003 - the date his car was allegedly caught on camera.
He is also facing an elections watchdog probe into his expenditure at the 2010 general election. So it doesn't bode well for him and is another problem that poor old Cameron didn't want but now has to face.
