Spotted two coaches this morning down the Market area, quickly followed by a third. Lots of kids and adult`s alighting, dressed in period costume. All soon disappeared round the corner to the museum. They sounded foreign. Was something going on today?

Not foreign Colin, Medieval mate. The clothes are a dead giveaway.

a normal event at our excellent museum, school trips from all over kent descend dressed up in roman togas or elizabethan dress.
the teachers take them into the education centre first for a boring lecture then let them loose in the museum.
i am surprised you have not spotted that before with your roving camera.

Just looked at that picture again .What a lovely setting Dickens Corner in the background and the old bank towards the front .In the distance trees. The Musuem has so much to offer .If you look carefully there are many hidden gems in Dover .

that is the problem susan, we have all these gems but they are hidden amongst the dross or not looked after.
our roger is the only individual committed to letting the genie out of the bottle, so we sideline him.
yesterday i was crossing the western heights to see the konik ponies and got talking to a total stranger about our town.
he was a life long dovorian and went into one about the lack of promotion of our assetts adding that the town had gone into a terminal decline over half a century.
speaking as an incomer i am constantly astonished that i can walk over stunning countryside in all parts of our town and that it is not infested with visitors.

#4 Don`t be too surprised Howard, as unfortunatly the Market Square is merely a passing point on my way between the town and the sea front and I don`t get to view much of what is happening. What should be an interesting focal point to sit down for conversation and watching all that`s going on, is constantly drowned out by that screen. Okay for the odd local things, but 24 hour news? Stuff it!!

Barry, I was thinking along those lines with Sid`s comment on #2. Those coaches didn`t quite give an authentic period scene. Yes, I do think.

speaking of all things equine, where do you stable your string of thoroughbreds nowadays barry?
used to rival the horses owned by her majesty.

Thank you for that comment Howard - sidelined indeed.
I haven't heard about anything that is going on as regards activities of Dover Business Support or the Chamber.
DBS has been starved (by the Chamber itself) of the very necessary oxygen of publicity; I was told on the evening of my dismissal, that they were not going to change that aspect - just how wrong can people be ?
Many different things need to be done to promote Dover to the wider world, but I'm sure they never will be; not just promoting Dover itself, but working on real support for the businesses here and the Town.

Yes it does Howard; apparantly - and I'm sure Barry will correct me, but it is now deemed to be a part-time job - again, how wrong can some people be ? Shows the level of support the Chamber want to give Dover doesn't it ?
Such a change from last November.
