From May 2010 all councils will have the choice to determine on how they should be governed by Elected Mayor who does not have to be councilor or a Leader of the Council with a similar structure as we have today. Councils do not need your approval to which structure they decide on, though will be looking for feedback. Doncaster Council already have an elected Mayor as do London they have revealed that key services have been improved in delivery without increasing income from such things as Council Tax.
Should we all have the right to decide just as we do in electing councillors on how we want to be governed by Elected Mayor or Council Leader rather than it being thrust upon us.
So the choices are
Elect a Mayor
Appoint Council Leader
Which is Dover going to adopt?.
