living in Buckland Avenue has anyone else spotted the destruction of some of the trees latest 3 on the right going into the Town and one on the left, these were Cherry trees and Crab Apple Tree, not cut back but cut off, just stumps,no notice of this was put up,just asking people to make sure they didn't park thier cars there.
I came home from work to find our lovely trees gone, yes some were growing a bit wobbly but nothing serious.
Forumite Ken came round yesterday and I showed him, absolutely criminal.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Not just there John, all over the place. So does anyone know why the trees are being decimated? It's not just pruning, it's wholesale lopping.

They're having a good go at the trees in Kearsney Abbey Gardens too. Perhaps DDC are trying to spend last years budget before DC/NC take it off them.

Sounds like pollarding to me. As long as done properly it should actually prolong the lives of the trees as long as the tree surgeon knows what he/she (a bit of political correctness there!) knows what they are doing. Produces lots of new growth........
errrr, as does Vicky Pollarding!

Yes pollarding and probably quite a bit of common sense - I am not a tree expert but doesn't a tree roots spread out as far as the canopy - therefore doing this is protecting the surrounding area ??
Been nice knowing you :)

Cherry trees especially need some drastic action from time to time; at first the results look brutal, but a year or two on the trees look better than ever. I wouldn't judge the results of this lopping too quickly.
True friends stab you in the front.

I'm sure I've spotted one or two Vicky Pollard lookalike's on the seafront and even more in Folkestone
